If you’re creating advertisements for your business, why not get paid too?

Just like YouTube, TikTok pays creators per 1000 views, not ad views but general views. Creators and businesses are using this to their advantage when creating content for their social media pages.

But first, you need to be accepted into the program. Keep reading to learn how to get into the program and how much money YOU can passively make on TikTok.

TikTok introduced the Creator Next program, designed to help TikTok creators monetize their content.

Think of it as a portal that gives you access to all of TikTok’s monetization opportunities, all in one place.

Once a creator or business joins the Creator Next program, they’ll get access to features to help grow and earn money from their content.

These features include the creator fund, creator marketplace, video gifts, live gifts, and tips, which will be explored below.

2. Join the TikTok Creator Fund

You need at least 100K authentic video views in the last 30 days to join the Creator Fund.

How much are small creators making on TikTok?

@thesongcouple with a TikTok following of 75,000 followers made $150.78 within 1 week of joining the Creator Fund.

If they continued making this much weekly, they would make over $600 within a month. Not bad for a small creator.

It's really not bad, considering TikToks are short and don’t take up too much of your time to produce. Especially when compared to YouTube, which can take hours. Some videos can take less than 10 minutes to create on TikTok.

Also, 75,000 followers on TikTok vs. 75,000 followers on YouTube are very different. It is much harder to gain followers and video views on YouTube than on TikTok.

CPM on TikTok VS YouTube

The cost per mile refers to how much creators make per 1000 views.

TikTok differs from YouTube in that creators are not paid for the advertisements shown before their videos. This would not work, considering TikTok’s are much shorter.

Tiktok pays cents per 1000 views. Whereas on YouTube, creators are paid anywhere from $1 to $20 per video view containing an advert.

For example, @thesongcouple on Tiktok has a CPM of $0.03 and a CPM of $1 per on YouTube.

While that doesn’t sound like much, you have to remember these platforms work very differently from each other.

Overnight, I gained over $100,000 views on my pet’s TikTok. On YouTube, it’s very rare for a small creator to gain that amount of views overnight.

As you can see, it’s much easier to go viral and gain a following quickly on TikTok. Therefore, it’s much easier for a small creator or business to become eligible to join the Creator Fund compared to the YouTube Partner Program.

3. Other useful monetization features to earn money on TikTok

Tips

Your audience can send you tips directly through your TikTok profile. The creator gets 100% of the tip. You need to have at least 100,000 followers.

TikTok Video Gifts

Your viewers on TikTok can send you a virtual gift in the comments section of your videos to thank you for the hard work you put into your content, which can be redeemed for real money.

You also need at least 100,000 followers to be eligible for this feature.

TikTok Live

If you don’t have 100,000 followers yet, you should try this feature, which only requires 1000 followers.

When you go live on your TikTok page, viewers can send you a virtual sticker, which you can redeem for real money.

In-app e-commerce

Keep your eye on TikTok. Like Instagram, which has been introducing e-commerce into the app in recent years, TikTok has recently been testing in-app e-commerce and a partnership with Spring, particularly with musicians.

Eligibility for the Creator Next program

  • Creator Next must be available in your location (this feature is currently unavailable everywhere).
  • You must be 18 or older (or 19 in South Korea and 20 in Japan).
  • You need to meet a minimum number of followers and video views.
  • You must have posted on TikTok at least 3 times in the last 30 days.
  • Your account must be in good standing and follow our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service.
