This isn’t an article about how to suddenly 10x your views or earnings I’m afraid- it’s about how people like me, who earn around $100 a month, can make it really count for something.

Like most people on here, my Medium money is extra, and I’m fortunate that I don’t rely on it to pay my bills.

I can therefore do what I like with it, so naturally- I invest it.

As we know, compound interest is the 8th wonder of the universe (Einstein said that, I can’t take credit unfortunately), and luckily, most of us have time on our sides.

Now, I have 42 years until I retire at 67 (not counting-honest), so how much would I have if I invested my $100/month and never touched it until I retire?

Well, $100/ month for 42 years is $50,400 (I know I’m not going to make $100 a month for 42 years- it’s just an exercise), but how do we 10x that to over half a million??

Well, it’s simple really- put $100 a month into an S&P500 ETF and you’ll have $503.897.64 if it continues it’s 130 year historical average of around 9% annually.

It really is that simple; Earn $100/month and don’t spend it- save and invest it.

What you earn isn’t the most important thing- it’s how much you spend and what you do with it. ETF and chill should be everyone’s favorite game.
