NFTs — The Future of COVID-19 Vaccine Passports

The implementation of COVID vaccination passports worldwide has been problematic, as predicted. Healthcare is not a federal obligation in most countries, and each country or region has done things slightly differently, leaving many people perplexed. For example, you might be able to go to a restaurant, the movies, and freely cross borders in any country within the European Union. However, the same freedom is not guaranteed in countries outside the EU since there is no international alignment regarding proof of vaccination. The problem is exacerbated in developing nations that lack essential resources, much less the technology for implementing a reliable system for vaccine passports.
A unified system driven by NFT technology might solve the vaccination passport’s challenges. Suppose each individual was given an NFT with a unique identity documenting their vaccination status. In that case, it might become a global system that any government in the world could use to verify a person’s vaccination status.
The digitization of vaccines passports
Vaccine passports are a mechanism that lets people show whether or not they have been vaccinated against COVID-19. The passport is utilized for international travel and gaining entry to public places such as restaurants, pubs, movie theaters, and gyms.
Aside from Canada, South Korea, the European Union, and Israel, no other country or region has created a standardized system for vaccine passport validation. Let’s use the USA as an example. An individual vaccinated in Florida might have issues proving the validity of their vaccine passport in California due to a lack of system standardization. The problem is worse in developing regions such as Africa and South America.
A vaccination passport currently required in most countries proves that a person is fully vaccinated. It is provided in most nations when a vaccination is given and acts as evidence against COVID transmission. At present, most vaccination passports need a user to download an image with a QR code to validate a person’s identification.
