China is not a great idea: capitalism and a dictator. It’s like the two worst possible things you could imagine together. It’s a very bad idea. Fran Lebowitz

Whilst capitalism is not as bad of an idea as Fran Lebowitz makes it out to be, its marriage with a dictatorship style of governance is.

In recent years, the concept of the governments and investors of the world decoupling and de-risking respectively, from China, has become a prominent topic in global economic discussions.

Since the early 90s, the world economies have become closely integrated with China through trade, primarily with the manufacturing of goods. Things are now shifting.

What are the factors driving the decoupling?
